Here Are Some Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Why should I join the The Lasting Supper?
This is an online community that provides a sheltered space for people from around the world with a diversity of religious experience to share ideas and to process their spirituality whether they are a practicing member of a religion or religious organization or not.
Many people are looking for a community where they are not required to subscribe to certain beliefs or behaviors in order to be a member. The Lasting Supper is exactly this kind of place.
2. Who started The Lasting Supper?
David Hayward, Master of Theology with a Diploma in Ministry and over 30 years of ministry experience, began The Lasting Supper primarily to meet his own need for community since he left the professional ministry and the church in 2010. Plus, his observation that many people are also spiritually homeless prompted him to provide a meeting place and resource center for them.
3. How do I join The Lasting Supper?
Simply click on “become a member” on the homepage. It’s just $15/month or $150/ year! Once you register, you will be notified by email with your username and password. Bam! Now you are a full member of the community.
4. Why a monthly membership fee when other sites are free?
i. We have established a monthly fee as a gateway to ensure that those who join the site are seriously committed to its values and are willing to abide by the community’s etiquette. This site is facilitated, protected, and non-confrontational, and your financial commitment helps us keep it that way. Read more here
ii. It is going to take people working around the clock to maintain and develop a site that is not only a gathering place, but also a resource place for you to process your spirituality with other like-minded people. These workers need to eat.
5. Is PayPal the only payment method?
We accept credit cards as well as PayPal. Paypal has proven to be a convenient method of payment. But it is only the gateway the site uses to process your payments. Once directed to PayPal, you can choose to use your credit card. If, however, both of these methods aren’t an option for you, please email us and other arrangements might be made.
6. What should I do when I join the community?
The first thing we’d like you to do is fill in your members profile. This gives other people a chance to meet you. If you want to be anonymous (which is okay), then you can add a generic profile picture and tell us enough about yourself to at least show that you’re a real person with a story.
Then you can check out the other parts of the site. Start by reading through the site. Request an invite to our private Facebook group where it is very active for up to the minute updates from our members. You can even direct message other members and get to know them better.
7. How is this site related to nakedpastor.com?
The Lasting Supper is a community that gathers far away from the confrontational activity of the nakedpastor. David Hayward uses the nakedpastor site to deconstruct, provoke and stir up the muddy waters of all that is questionable and wrong with organized religion, especially the church. Many who follow nakedpastor find it a lively place of confrontational debate.
But David is also passionate about forming healthy communities that provide an environment for people to process their questions and spiritualities in a non-confrontational manner. Hence The Lasting Supper.
8. Can I meet the infamous David Hayward?
David is far more accessible on The Lasting Supper than anywhere else on the internet. He makes himself available in the chat rooms and in the secret Facebook group. He responds more fully and thoroughly via email as well. He considers The Lasting Supper his primary community and treats it as such.
