Sometimes music and lyrics really accurately reflect my heart. Here are some songs that say exactly what I’ve been thinking and feeling lately. My most current favorite heartsongs. There is magic in them for me and I wanted to share with you.

“Jean Valjean” by Edison Glass from their album Time is Fiction

Jean Val Jean, the weeping criminal
Broken with the weight of compassion
It’s hard to hold what you don’t deserve
Remember your promise to be pure

It’s a battle between just and good
What you know is right
What you know you should
Will good overcome religion?

It’s a battle between grace and pride
Will you let it go or draw the knife?
Will grace overcome what was done?

Goodness fell on me like a spring rain
In this divine through health, I’ve become
Unable to repay my vault to emulate
Forgiveness, no longer will I run

It’s a battle between just and good
What you know is right
What you know you should
Will good overcome religion?

It’s a battle between grace and pride
Will you let it go or draw the knife?
Will grace overcome what was done?

“Shoreline” by Deas Vail from their album All the Houses Look the Same

So you say I’m better off here,
as dry as the shoreline in an ocean of fear.
And so you say that I can’t be alive
Until there is nothing when we’re meeting eyes
Again
And day by day I wander these halls,
And you’re casting a shadow onto every wall.
And all the way you ring in my ear,
from the moment I knew you were leaving me here.
You were leaving me here.
You were leaving me here.
You were leaving me here.

This give and take, this waiting on time
It’s this twisted up memory that I can’t unwind.
These fragile words that fall from my mouth
And I’m crumbling and crowded, but I’ve figured you out.
I’ve figured you out.
I’ve figured you out.
I’ve figured you out.

The shoreline calls the sea
For simple words and company,
But words go on and on,
Till they collide and all is gone.
I dive into the deep—into the sea inside of me
To find another song,
To find a place where I belong.

The shoreline calls the sea
For simple words and company,
But words go on and on,
Till they collide and all is gone.
I dive into the deep—into the sea inside of me
To find another song,
To find a place where I belong.

I dive into the deep—into the sea inside of me
To find another song,
To find a place where I belong.

“Progress” by Mutemath from their album Reset

Pulling your confidence through
Some courage is well overdue
I believe solely in all your promise
Why waste a second in doubt
You could be helping you out
Keeping your head in the clear

Like an instrument for a song
Like the sun for tomorrow’s dawn
Every moment of time’s just an answer to find
What you’re here for, what you breathe for
What you wake for, what you bleed for

Everyone’s counting on you
Save for yourself what to do
Life is a card that you lay down sometimes
To search for the best way of all
Is finding the best way to fall
Keeping your head in the clear

Every moment of time’s just an answer to find
What you’re here for, what you breathe for
What you wake for, what you bleed for
What you hope for, what you live for
What you’re here for, what you breathe for, what you live for
What you’re here for, what you bleed for, what you live for
