THE BOREDOM OF PERSONAL GROWTH

I went for a run this morning.

Half way through I felt like walking for a bit.

An argument ensued: Keep going! No, walk! Keep going! No, walk!

So I tried to figure out what was happening:

I felt good. I wasn’t winded. I wasn’t sore. I wasn’t fatigued.

The fact is, I was bored. I was bored of the same, extended, tedious activity.

I could walk and change things up.

Or, I could keep running, benefit my health more, improve my performance, and even get home quicker!

Of course, I thought this was a good analogy of my personal life.

Sometimes, personal growth is just boring. It’s the same, tedious, extended activity of just taking care of myself.

Or I could just stop.

But if I want to benefit myself more, improve myself, and achieve my goals quicker… keep doing it!

At the same time, I clarified to myself: there’s nothing wrong with walking. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break from intentional personal growth either.

But don’t mistake boring for not making progress.

I love you all!
