Lisa and I drove our daughter and her boyfriend to Ottawa. They are both Carleton University students now. I like the city. Who knows?

I was thinking about you guys a lot yesterday during my travels. I want to assure many of you of something. Once you leave the church, if you have, it can take a while to feel normal again, or for the first time. For many of us, we have no idea how we are supposed to feel. Well, the “supposed to feel” is now gone. No more oughts and musts and shoulds and supposed-ta’s. You just feel the way you feel.

Again, it’s like leaving home for the first time. Or quitting smoking, or changing lifestyles, or whatever. It takes some time of pulling away, effort, and then even more time to feel like you don’t need it anymore, and then even more time to not be thinking about it everyday, but just moving on with your new life. Eventually you will wonder what all the fuss was about. Eventually you may even realize that there was nothing to reject. It was just a peaceful transformation.

Give it time. It will come. You will feel, not only free, but full of joy.
