Group think provides many comforts. One of the major ones is that it validates what you’re thinking. In religion or the church, it validates your theology. Of course, it’s given you the theology it validates.
So when you decide to think for yourself, you often find that you sense this strange new insecurity because, basically, you’re on your own. There’s no one there patting you on the head telling you that you’re okay.
You have to do this yourself. I warn you that occasionally a wave of fear will pass through you that you’ve become a heretic and are bound for Hell. But eventually these subside.
What’s important is thinking for yourself… actually thinking… and coming to your knowledge of the truth. The truth will set you free. Find it! Or let it find you.
