Our Potluck went really well last night. We talked about “Is It Worth the Risk to be Feminist and Spiritual?”. As usual, we pick up speed as we go along to the point where it always feels like we are shutting down prematurely.

What got the discussion really going was when one of our members raised the issue of the cognitive disconnection she has seen in some women who claim to be feminist in the world, but in the church bow to the sexist ideology believed and practiced there. How can a strong, intelligent, self-confident and assertive woman in her business submit to an abusive husband because she is told it’s spiritually proper to do so by her church? Why can’t they see what’s going on?
