I like to look at Kickstarter projects and I have supported some in the past.  The idea of crowd sourcing really fascinates me.

I gave Paul Sammut some money to get his clock project started about a year ago and he sent me a really cool Nixie Tube alarm clock.  Nixie tubes are old Russian tech that use tubes full of number shaped wires to display numbers in a retro old tech sort of way.  He built a wood cabinet around this and put some really cool features into it and is now selling them.

Here is a look at and review of the clock.

I love it – and looks like it has a radio too? (ps to my eternal shame I have only recently discovered what crowd sourcing is)

It does look like it has a radio.  The speaker is for the alarm and the voice that lets you know what mode you’re in.
