This radio podcast is from “The Spirit of Things” program over Easter on our ABC Radio National.

I found it a most interesting discussion, and thought to share it. Info and link to listen is below –

At Easter the Biblical story of Father and Son recounts how Jesus came to accept both the faith and the fate for which God the Father divinely ordained him.

Bishop Graeme Rutherford of the Anglican Church raised his son Jonathan in the Christian faith, but at the age of 19 Jonathan started to read Russell, Chomsky and Dawkins.

Jonathan became an atheist, and father and son argued about their divergent views on God, faith, suffering and ‘the good life’. They published their dialogue as Beloved Father, Beloved Son.

They speak to Rachael about why they hold to their positions, and how engaging in this dialogue has opened new questions for them and also brought them closer together.
