    I was introduced to Baruch Spinoza today by the CBC Ideas program.

    Its fascinating to hear of person over 300 years ago thinking the same thing I have been thinking for a long time.  It makes me wonder how many people live and just grow up in the church (or any religious system) and have these thoughts but chose to keep them private and just go through the motions.  I wonder if I lived in that type of environment would I just keep quiet or would I speak out.

    Scott, I’ll try to listen to this in the near future. If memory serves correct he did pay some type of penalty in some way at one stage for being contradictory?

    He was Kicked out of the synagogue for his beliefs. He wrote afar books which were shocking at the time. In the program they refer to him as the catalyst of The Enlightenment
