THE LASTING SUPPER

VALUES & PRINCIPLES

We are building The Lasting Supper to provide a rich resource and non-confrontational community for people who want to be spiritually independent and free. We are providing a place to be transparent and honest, which we believe will create greater understanding and connection between individuals with a diversity of beliefs or non-beliefs. The Lasting Supper promotes openness and transparency by providing a venue to share and connect, and certain principles guide The Lasting Supper in pursuing these goals. Achieving these principles should be constrained only by limitations of law, technology, and evolving social norms. We therefore establish these Principles as the foundation of the rights and responsibilities of those within The Lasting Supper.

FREEDOM TO SHARE

Members of The Lasting Supper have the freedom to share whatever information they want with each other, in any medium and any format. They also have the right to connect online or offline with other members, as long as they both consent to the connection.

OWNERSHIP AND CONTROL OF INFORMATION

Members of The Lasting Supper own their own information. They have the freedom to share it with any other member they want and take it with them anywhere they want, including removing it from The Lasting Supper website. Members also have the freedom to decide with whom they will share their information and be given the means to control their choices. Those controls, however, are not capable of limiting how those who have received information may use it, particularly outside The Lasting Supper site.

FREE FLOW OF INFORMATION

Members of The Lasting Supper have the freedom to access all of the information made available to them by other members. The Lasting Supper endeavors to provide the practical tools to make sharing and access easy, quick, and efficient.

FUNDAMENTAL EQUALITY

Every person is fundamentally equal and The Lasting Supper ensures that all members enjoy equal opportunity and use of The Lasting Supper Service. There should be a single set of principles, rights, and responsibilities that should apply to all people using The Lasting Supper Service.

SOCIAL VALUE

Members of The Lasting Supper have the freedom to build trust and reputation through their identity and connections on The Lasting Supper site, and should not have their presence on The Lasting Supper removed for reasons other than those described in The Lasting Supper’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

OPEN STANDARDS

Members should have programmatic interfaces for sharing and accessing the information available to them. The specifications for these interfaces should be published and made available and accessible to all members of The Lasting Supper.

FUNDAMENTAL SERVICE

People should be able to use The Lasting Supper for the current registration fee to establish a presence, connect with others, and share information with them. No persons shall be denied membership due to their financial situation. Every person should be able to use The Lasting Supper Service regardless of his or her level of economics, participation or contribution.

COMMON WELFARE

The rights and responsibilities of The Lasting Supper and the members that use it should be described in a Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which should not be inconsistent with these Principles.

TRANSPARENT PROCESS

The rights and responsibilities of The Lasting Supper and the members that use it should be described in a Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which should not be inconsistent with these Principles.

ONE WORLD

The Lasting Supper Service should transcend geographic and national boundaries and be available to everyone in the world.

TRANSPARENT PROCESS

The rights and responsibilities of The Lasting Supper and the members that use it should be described in a Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, which should not be inconsistent with these Principles.

“I have found TLS to be a special place, a safe place. It can be heartbreaking to read the things that people have faced and continue to face from their faith communities but it is equally inspiring to watch people break free of unhealthy connections and awaken to their own freedom. I am so happy I found this community! That is what it truly is a community of supportive, caring people who will listen to you vent and just smile. Thank you David and TLS for letting me call this home!”

Jim R. – TLS Member

“TLS is where I go to just be myself among others. My spiritual walk is increasingly becoming the story of being a complex person in a complex world. I am with friends and family, here. I am confirmed as a living, thinking, learning being. The longer I participate, the more I appreciate about the art of being alive. ”

Ren B.

“As a gay man who has battled with religion and identity all his life, TLS is a very safe place, where I can totally be myself without fear of judgment. Its great to be part of something where we can support each other as well as vent all the crap!”
